UNDERSTANDING YOUR DENTAL IMPLANT OPTIONS

DENTAL IMPLANTS
If you are missing one or multiple teeth, dental implants may be a great solution for you. They are a stable, tooth replacement option designed to look and function like your natural teeth. Because your body thinks the implant is a real tooth, they will help preserve the bone in that area. They will also help keep your neighboring teeth healthier and from shifting into the empty space.
BENEFITS
- Looks and functions like your natural teeth
- Enjoy eating the foods you love
- Helps preserve your bone and protect your neighboring teeth

REMOVABLE IMPLANT-SUPPORTED DENTURES
Traditional dentures can cause discomfort and instability. With implants, dentures are able to be secured in place to avoid the frustrations of slippage. This option can be removed when needed like traditional dentures, but can be snapped right back into place for a secure fit. It gives you the beautiful smile you want. It also gives the function you need – so you can eat properly and chew.
BENEFITS
- Secured in place to avoid slippage and discomfort caused by traditional dentures
- Eat the foods you love without the struggle of your teeth moving out of place
- Feel confident in the ability to speak more clearly with supported dentures

FULL FIXED ARCH
A full fixed arch replaces all of your top and/or bottom teeth. This option is very sturdy, is professionally secured by your dentist and is designed to stay in. They give the function you need to chew properly and to taste your food a lot better because there’s nothing covering your palate or the roof of your mouth. They are also made to look like natural teeth to give you a smile you can be proud of. Eat, speak, smile and feel confident!
BENEFITS
- Looks and functions like your natural teeth
- Enjoy the foods you love
- Feel more confident with a smile you can be proud of
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A dental implant is a small post, usually made of titanium, that acts as a substitute for the root of your natural tooth. Another piece, called an abutment, is connected on top of the implant. The job of the abutment is to hold the last piece of the implant process which is the crown ( the part you actually see when you smile or open your mouth). The crown is fabricated to match your natural teeth.
Dental implants are the most natural looking and natural feeling replacement for missing teeth. They also keep your jawbone healthy and help prevent further bone loss that happens when someone is missing a tooth.
Many patients report that the dental implant procedure involved less discomfort than a tooth extraction. In fact, it is common for patients to say they feel a lot better than they expected after the procedure! Often, patients return to work the next day or resume their regular everyday activities. If any discomfort should occur, it typically only lasts a short time.
Many adults are good candidates for dental implants. Also, for adults, age is NOT a factor! You can’t be “too old” for implants. If you are missing a single tooth, multiple teeth, or all your teeth, you may be a good candidate. Our doctors will determine whether or not this treatment is right for you after their overall assessment.
Dental implants have been successfully placed since approx. the 1950’s. With continued technological advancements and more advanced implant materials, studies have shown long term success rates of over 90%.
Dental implants are typically the closest you can get to having your natural teeth again. After the dental implant process is complete, many patients report they can now enjoy their favorite foods again because it has not only restored their mouth esthetically but also functionally.
When patients loose teeth, it typically leads to bone loss. The more time you wait, the more bone loss occurs which may make it more challenging to replace the tooth in the future.
If you have already waited a long time, don’t worry! Take the quiz above to have a conversation with our dentist to see what your options are.
Dental implants can be used to provide retention and support for your dentures. This drastically decreases the likelihood of them falling out while you are speaking and also allows you to better enjoy the foods you found difficult to eat before.

HAPPY PATIENT
“I’ve been to several Dentists and other specialists and still have unresolved dental issues. I am elated that I was referred to Dr. Nicholson. He did my sinus lift and two implants and I am thrilled. He is professional but friendly. I’m impressed with his technique and his skill. My dentist that placed the crown after the implants complimented Dr. Nicholson for his excellent work. Dr. Nicholson’s office is comfortable and his staff is awesome. They are all very friendly and always make me feel welcome.”

DR. JASON NICHOLSON
Dr. Nicholson is a board-certified periodontist. He attended the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. If you have to go – this is the place! I don’t like any type of dentist in their professional environment. Dr Nicholson & staff are awesome. The office is super nice. The way it works for me; I go in apprehensive, Dr. Nicholson gives a short rundown on what we are doing and then we start one-upping each other with tales & pictures of fly fishing adventures. Before long I forget why I’m even there. Then I remember why I’m there but it’s all good.
